The Doily Daisy Chain was the idea of trying to make a piece to celebrate all those countless hours women spent crocheting those doilies. I am an obsessive second hand shopper and it saddened me to see all those fine lovingly made pieces, (sometimes stained.. showing a history of use) now cast aside. It seemed appropriate to team the doilies with the daisy chain and the whole thing to visually reference the pacific island tradition of the lei. It’s a piece that speaks to me of multiculturalism.
